Favoured by Hollywood celebrities due to their exquisite attention to detail (and high asking prices), Confederate Motorcycles has announced that the X132 Hellcat - the cheap model - is now available to order, with production to commence in January 2012.
The Alabama motorcycle maker will build just 164 of the hand-made motorbikes which we reported on 12 months ago, and the ethos behind its visually arresting designs are variously described by the company as 'the antithesis of mass production' and 'skeletal minimalism'.
Priced at $49,500 (about $48,500 in local currency), the radical naked bike will cost you more than a high end naked Italian, but it comes with an LED headlight cluster which communicates its worth clearly.
Powered by a 132 cubic inch (2163cc) V-twin motor, the Confederate X132 Hellcat is no shrinking violet. The engine block is machined aluminium and along with the rest of the bike looks suitably dramatic, complete with exposed internals. Confederate claims the engine is 'indestructible'.
The rowdy V-twin lump pumps out 132hp (98kW) and a whopping 203Nm of torque and channels this through a five-speed gearbox, via chain drive to the rear wheel.
The whole shebang weighs around 227kg and makes use of plenty of top end kit, such as Beringer (front) and Brembo (rear) stoppers, special 50mm Marzocchi forks, carbon fibre wheels, and Race-Tech rear suspension.
Strictly a single-seater, the Confederate X132 Hellcat will not be to everyone's taste, but it is certainly a little different from the norm. Check out more details at Confederate.com.
