Known for its brutish, eye-popping cruiser designs, American niche motorcycle maker Confederate has plans to release an all-new naked bike midway through 2011, the C3 X132 Hellcat.
Initially the motorcycle was scheduled to be launched in November 2010, but that launch date was pushed back for reasons unknown.
Confederate Motorcycles rarely builds dull bikes and this latest design doesn't stray far from the company ethos, showing off an incredibly minimalistic design that takes the idea of a naked bike to the next level.
The seat of the new Hellcat appears to have been added as an afterthought, tacked on to the frame of the motorcycle. This helps draw the eye towards the huge 2.2-litre V-twin slung within the Hellcat's frame, and with almost-flat bars and an uncomplicated rear swing arm, the visual effect is simultaneously clean and powerful.
"We have definitely made the toughest, most indestructible, long lasting motorcycle that is possible to create," says Matt Chambers, Founder and CEO of Confederate motorcycles.
The jumbo 52-degree V-twin engine displaces 2163cc, or 132 cubic in the old money, which is good enough for around 197Nm of torque (145lbs-ft). Though power figures are not quoted, the American company lists horsepower as 'sufficient'.
This giant twin cylinder Copperhead engine has been custom made by S&S Cycle and features a one-piece forged crank and is paired to a five-speed transmission made in-house by Confederate.
On top of its "indestructible" engine, the C3 X132 Hellcat will be fitted with top shelf chassis components, including Brembo brakes and Race-Tech suspension.
All told, the new Confederate Hellcat tips the scales at a claimed kerb weight of 215kg.
Like all Confederate's motorcycles, the new Hellcat will be built in limited numbers and will take aim at Harley-Davidson's top end models priced at an eye-watering US$45,000 when it goes on sale later in 2011.
