Confederate and Viper heading our way

Two high-end American motorcycles are set to muscle their way Downunder: the Confederate X132 Hellcat and Viper Black Diamond 152

Melbourne-based importer Urban Moto Imports has added two more exclusive models to its stable of high-end, low-volume offerings, with the Confederate X132 Hellcat roadster and Viper Black Diamond 152 performance cruiser currently undergoing approval for Australian Design Rules compliance.

According to Urban Moto Import’s Joseph Elasmar, the models aren’t too far away.

“We expect the models to be granted ADR compliance in the next three to four months – they should be available for sale around April next year,” he said.

The very limited numbers of the Confederate X132 Hellcat to be brought to our shores will be custom built to each customer’s specifications and Urban Moto Imports anticipates the model will be priced in the vicinity of $65,000.

The striking machine is powered by an X132 Copperhead V-twin – a 132-cubic-inch (2163cc) S&S X-Wedge unit re-engineered by Confederate specifically for the Hellcat. The bike also features carbonfibre rims, a Beringer/Brembo brake package, a fully adjustable Marzocchi 50mm fork and a fully adjustable custom Race Tech rear monoshock. The bike weighs a claimed 226kg and produces 132hp and 203Nm of torque.

“There has been a huge amount of interest in this model here in Australia,” said Elasmar. “The response has been phenomenal – it’s going to be the case that whatever comes into the country in terms of numbers will be pre-sold,” he added.

The Australian allocation of Confederate’s exclusive R131 Fighter, a special-order, non-ADR model worth around $120,000, has been sold and is no longer available.

Powered by a 152-cubic-inch (2490cc) Ilmor V-twin, the Viper Black Diamond 152 is also set to cause a stir, and will in fact be Australia’s largest production cruiser – that title previously held by the 2294cc Triumph Rocket III. Its features include a Fox Racing rear shock, an American Suspension fork and a Baker Drivetrain six-speed transmission.

Also currently undergoing ADR compliance approval, Urban Moto Imports believes the Viper will be available from April next year at a price of around $50,000 (plus on-roads), depending on the level of re-engineering required for the model to be road registered in Australia.

Viper and Confederate join Urban Moto Imports' other offerings from Erik Buell Racing, Bimota and Benelli. At present the importer sells directly through its dealership FX Powersports, which is located in Brunswick in Melbourne's inner northern suburbs.

“If someone puts a deposit down on a Hellcat or a Black Diamond 152 and they live in another state, we’ll fly them down from their nearest capital city so they can take a test ride at our expense,” Elasmar said.
