We knew it was going to be an iconic landscape, and here it is -- Cockatoo Island on Sydney Harbour will host this year’s finale of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour on September 17.
It will be the sixth and final stop for the invitation-only series, and the first time that Aussie freestyle champion Robbie Maddison will be able to compete in front of his home crowd under the X-Fighters umbrella.
But the world record-holder for the longest jump on two wheels won’t be short of competition, with the likes of Nate Adams, Andre Villa and Dany Torres and fellow Aussies Cameron Sinclair and Blake Williams all hoping to make their own history.
Cockatoo Island is the largest island in Sydney Harbour, and is a former imperial prison, industrial school, reformatory and gaol. Cockatoo Island's prison buildings were added to UNESCO's World Heritage list along with 10 other Australian convict sites in July 2010.
