Here’s one we’re not giving you a lot of time to digest. The Victorian election will be held tomorrow, and we’ve just come across the opposition’s motorcycle policy – the only organ that is going to the polls with a bespoke motorised two-wheel plan.
The Ted Balliieu-led Liberals/Nationals Coalition government has announced a raft of proposals that it will implement should it oust the incumbent Labor government, including:
Examining inadequate requirements for the placement of registration labels on motorcycles;
Introducing a trial allowing motorcyclists to use one of Melbourne’s dedicated bus lanes;
Working to give motorcycle groups and the industry stronger representation on a newly established Motorcycle Advisory Group;
Pushing the Federal Government to develop a national motorcycle safety strategy; and
Working with the industry and motorcycle user groups to give Victoria’s Parliamentary (All-Party) Road Safety Committee a reference to conduct an inquiry into safety for motorcyclists, including an examination of Labor’s Motorcycle Safety Levy.
If the latest opinion polls are anything to go by, tomorrow's election in Victoria is set to be one of the tightest in years.
