Chinese helmet manufacturer Scorpion EXO has come up with an innovative helmet fitting system it calls the airfit.
You may recall the various air pump sports shoes introduced in the early 1990s, which used air bladders to create a snug fit – well this helmet uses a similar concept.
There is a small finger pump/bladder out of sight under the chin piece, beside a release button. The idea is the lining is gently inflated to create a snug fit around your head.
Assuming it works, it has the potential to create a better fit than conventional foam.
The EXO series also features a tinted sun visor inside the main visor, which can be retracted when not in use.
At this stage the manufacturer claims it is selling well in the USA with SNELL standards approval, and is just in the throes of establishing itself in Europe.
