Charlie's excellent adventure
You may recall the DVD and TV series that came out some time ago, called The Long Way Round, which featured actor Ewan McGregor and mate Charley Boorman doing a lap of the globe on a pair of BMW GS twins.What you may not know is that Boorman got so wrapped up in the whole motorcycle adventure gig that he then went and took the apparently mad step of entering the Paris Dakar raid, this time on a race-prepped BMW single.
To his eternal credit, he not only finished, but for a first-timer finished very respectably.
You can now see how the event unfolds for a newbie on a DVD called Race to Dakar.
