CFMoto has a replacement for the 650TK sportstourer on the way, based on the specially devised 'escort' model which chaperoned around world leaders such as Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin at the 2014 APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) meeting in China.
Unlike the LAMS-only 650TK, the as-yet-unnamed sportstourer will be sold in both LAMS and full-power mode, and will feature WP suspension, anti-lock braking an electronically adjustable windscreen. The engine will remain a fuel injected 650cc parallel twin.
According to Michael Poynton, the director of Australian CFMoto importer Mojo Motorcycles, the new 650 is due in Australia around October 2015, with pricing still to be confirmed.
The development of the CF650G took only 10 months and, based on security protocols, had a fully equipped audio and video communication system connecting to the security nerve centre. Styling wise, it features a frontal design that "stems from the guardian lions statue in Tiananmen Square". The white fairing is decorated in traditional red and yellow colours, representing the Five-Starred Red Flag and the Great Wall.
In the past, BMW Motorrad and Honda have been the brands of choice for APEC motorcycle escorts.
