CFMoto enters the middleweight ATV market

Chinese manufacturer releases all-new 400cc ATV range

CFMoto Australia this week announced the arrival of its first ATV under 500cc.

The move will see the manufacturer produce smaller capacity ATVs for the first time and compete in the mid-size ATV segment (250cc-400cc) which accounts for around 40 per cent of national ATV sales.

The company’s CEO, Michael Poynton says the introduction of a mid- size ATV has been in the pipeline for some time now and expects the X400 will make an immediate impact once it hits dealership floors in October.

"We’ve sold more than 12,000 CFMoto’s in just over five years and have a pretty good grasp on what our customers want from us.

"The X400 is the result of listening to customers then working with the development team at CFMoto to produce an ATV with a smaller body size which is easier to manoeuvre without compromising on key features required to get the job done.

"It’s our first vehicle in this segment to be released and with a ride away price point around 30 per cent less than our competitors, it will definitely shake things up."

"With these ATV's starting from $5990 ride away, Aussie farmers can now have a powerful liquid cooled EFI 400cc engine with strong Canadian CVTech transmission with two and four-wheel drive modes for a price point previously only ever seen on much more basic 250-300cc 2WD ATV’s." Poynton says.

CFMoto’s flagship ATV, the CF500 was the top selling 450cc-plus ATV in the country for three years straight from 2010 to 2013. Its X8 ATV was the number one selling 800cc in the country in 2014 and the new X550 ATV has exceeded sales forecasts for the company.

"As the brand becomes more widely known, Aussie farmers now only expect high quality ATV’s from CFMoto which are backed with a solid two year warranty and serviceable by more than 80 dealerships nationwide." Poynton said.

The X400 will be offered in two models, a standard model and a limited edition (LE) model.

Prices are: X400 $5990; X400LE $6990 (Ride away pricing). The bikes will be available from October 2015 and will be in all 80 Australian dealerships.
