CFMoto 700CL-X Classic looming

Pricing and on-sale date announced for first of three feature-packed and full-power CFMoto models

CFMoto Australia has announced that its all-new 2021 CFMoto 700CL-X Classic will hit local showrooms in July, priced from $9490 ride away.

Billed by the Chinese brand as a ‘neo-retro’ model, the naked roadster will be followed by the wire-spoke-wheeled 700CL-X Adventure and single-seat 700CL-X Sport later in the year.

The CFMoto 700CL-X Classic will be the first of three 700CL-X models

Shifting gears

The introduction of the 700CL-X Classis marks a milestone for CFMoto in Australia, as it’s the brand’s first full-power model, so it sits outside of the Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS).

With its 693cc parallel-twin, CFMoto is busting out of the LAMS category

The CFMoto 700CL-X Classic is powered by 693cc parallel-twin engine said to produce 73hp (55kW) at 8500rpm and 68Nm at 6500rpm.

That’s 18hp (13kW) and 6Nm over the firm’s 649cc parallel-twin, which currently powers the LAMS-approved 650NK nakeds, 650MT adventure bike, and 650GT sportstourer.

The capacity boost comes via a 3mm increase in stroke, while other technical highlights include Bosch electronic fuel injection, a ride-by-wire throttle, a slipper clutch, and forged pistons.

Billed as a 'neo-retro', we think CFMoto has done a top job of the bike's styling

Feature-packed

It doesn’t want for up-to-the-minute features either, with the ‘neo’ part of the ‘neo-retro’ tag encompassing electronic cruise control, Continental ABS brakes, a choice of two ride modes, a USB outlet and full LED lighting with an adaptive headlight, the latter automatically adjusting its beam dependent on the level of available ambient light.

Two colours will be available: Coal Grey or Charcoal Blue

Riding on an 18-inch front rim and a 17-inch rear, the cast alloy wheels are shod with Pirelli MT60 dual-purpose tyres, with 150mm of wheel travel front and rear courtesy of the KYB inverted 41mm fork and rear monoshock.

The fork is fully adjustable, while the monoshock is adjustable for preload and rebound.

The CFMoto 700CL-X Classic weighs in at 196kg (wet) and has a 13-litre fuel tank, while the seat height is 825mm. The model will launch with a range of factory accessories.

New era

According to CFMoto Australia’s Director, Michael Poynton, the new model represents the next progression in the brand’s offering in Australia.

“CFMoto has carved itself an impressive CV in the LAMS space in Australia, but now we’re ready to take the next step as we move into the ‘full-power’ bike ranks,” he said.

“We’re tremendously excited about the 700CL-X range, and the Classic is a great starting point with its beautiful aesthetics and lovely retro touches such as the round headlight.

“The future for CFMoto is exciting, and the relationship with KTM will only enhance our offerings across a variety of full-power motorcycle segments.”

Coming soon

The 2021 CFMoto 700CL-X Classic will be available in July in either Coal Grey or Charcoal Blue liveries, and comes with a two-year unlimited-kilometre warranty.

The warranty can be extended by a further 12 months if the bike is serviced within the CFMoto Australia dealer network.
