CFMoto 250SR makes public debut in China

A fully faired, concept version of the 250 NK, but one which is expected to become a production model

Chinese manufacturer CFMoto has unveiled a fully faired quarter-litre bike at a company event – the 250SR.

A concept version of the 250 NK, the 250SR moves away from the naked side of its commuter equation to what CFMoto says is its “determination to enter the racing world and promote the racing culture”.

The machine has been in the company’s strategic blueprint for a while, and the concept has an Akrapovic exhaust, clip-on handlebars, alloy wheels, slicks, a TFT instrument cluster, Brembo brakes and sporty ergonomics.

The production version, which is expected to go on sale in India in 2020, probably won’t have the same level of spec – no Akrapovic for a start – as it prepares to take on machines like the KTM RC 200.

Will we see it in Australia? CFMoto Australia hasn’t made its intentions clear and, while its 250cc capacity is a bit below other fully faired machines on the market like the Yamaha YZF-R3, KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 400, the 250SR’s price point will surely make it an attractive proposition.

The 250 NK retails for $4290 rideaway, and churns out 26.5hp and 22Nm from its liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine.

CFMoto is celebrating 30 years in the motorcycle business in 2019, with a number of events planned throughout the year.
