Yamaha has a very cool series of origami models, Yamaha Paper Craft, where avid folders can download PDF files to learn how to create their favourite bikes, from scooters to cruisers, dirt bikes and sports bikes.
But Australian artist Jack Chen has taken the paper folding craft to a new level with his giant cardboard creation of a Yamaha YZF-R1.
Using the Paper Craft instructions as a guide, Chen has replicated the 2007 Yamaha R1 with impressive attention to detail, and though its not quite full size, it's not small.
The work of art is crafted from cardboard and makes a strong visual impression and Chen explains that he would have made it full sized if he had the materials.
"Cardboard motorcycle (Yamaha YZF-R1 2007), not quite full 1:1 scale… due to restriction on cardboard size," says Chen. But he added that it's roughly 60% the size of an actual R1.
