Roy Kunda, founder and trail boss of Cape York Motorcycle Adventures, is releasing a book detailing his 30 years as a motorcycle tour guide in Cairns.
Titled The King of the Cape, the book will be a must-read for anyone who has completed the famous Cairns to Cape York route, and anyone who is considering tackling it in the future.
Cape York Motorcycle Adventures was founded in 1991. At the age of 21, Kunda embarked on a motorcycle trip around Australia, riding all the famous stock routes. Cape York, in particular, captured his attention and imagination. Upon his return home to Victoria, he packed up his life and moved to Cairns with the goal of running organised motorcycle tours.
In his time as a professional motorcycle tour guide, Kunda has led over 4000 riders of varying abilities on tours throughout the Cape. After thirty years, Cape York Motorcycle Adventures is still one the leading motorcycle tour companies in Far North Queensland, and Australia.

Over the years, Kunda has built a huge bank of knowledge, stories, tips and tricks, and with tours currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his wife and business partner, Renae, convinced him it was time to put it all down on paper.
The pre-release announcement of the book on May 15 attracted plenty of social media attention and there were 103 pre-orders in the first 48 hours.
Roy and Renae are currently putting the finishing touches on the book, with the release date set for September, 2020 – just in time for Father’s Day. A launch is planned for Cairns, with a potential Melbourne launch to follow in October.
