The three-wheel vibe is alive and well at the moment, with Polaris recently unveiling the Slingshot - and now it's the turn of Can-Am, which could be releasing this heavily updated version of the Can-Am Spyder in coming weeks.
The Bikesales Network understands that an international press launch will be held in Canada, the homeland of Can-Am's parent company BRP, in early October to officially launch the F3 EFI (the name which appears on the side panels).
The machine looks set to be powered by the same 1330cc three-cylinder ‘Ace' engine that has already made its way into the existing Spyder RT touring bike – a much needed replacement for the ageing 998cc V-twin that's still found in the RS and ST models. In the new triple guise, power has been boosted to a claimed 115hp and 130.1Nm (up from 100hp and 108Nm), but what really sets this engine above its predecessor is that it makes 40 per cent more low-end torque. We recently tested the Spyder RT, and the review can be found HERE.
Presumably, the F3 EFI would be a logical replacement for the existing RS, in what amounts to a massive restyling exercise. Compared to the RS, the sporty F3 has a much more vertical car-like grille, a smaller, flatter windscreen, rectangular headlights, different wheels and an orange frame and swingarm. Like the RS, the turn signals are integrated into the mirrors.
We'll have more news when it comes to hand.
