Can-Am’s all-new electric motorcycles are expected to hit Australian roads in early 2025, with the Canadian brand setting its sights on becoming an electric “leader”.
It is over 50 years since Can-Am last produced a two-wheel motorcycle, with the BRP-owned brand once having a strong presence in off-road racing. It’s current product offering includes UTVs, ATVs, and three-wheel motorcycles.
“Today, we are reclaiming our two-wheel heritage by bringing new excitement to the electric motorcycle industry,” said Jose Boisjoli, CEO of BRP. “We intend to become a global leader in that space with true innovation designed to simplify the riding experience for new riders and introduce electric motorcycles to all.”
The Can-Am Pulse and Origin are both powered by an all-new "liquid-cooled" 47hp Rotax E-Power motor and a lithium-ion 8.9kWh battery. The Pulse has an estimated city range of 160km, while the Origin offers an estimated 145km.
According to Can-Am, the innovative liquid cooling system helps reduce battery degradation over time and also optimizes range and charge time.
Other features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen display that is compatible with Apple CarPlay, an Active ReGen system, multiple ride modes, KYB suspension, and reverse.
The Pulse is a roadster-style machine, while the Origin is an adventure bike with an off-road mode, high ground clearance, and 255mm of front suspension travel.
Australian pricing is yet to be announced, but the Pulse will arrive in America with a starting price of $13,999USD (approx. $20,700AUD), while the Origin starts from $14,449USD (approx. $21,300AUD).
