California 90 lands Downunder

With just eight examples heading our way, you'll have to move smartly to secure what could well be the last of Moto Guzzi's 1100cc California cruisers

A commemorative edition of Moto Guzzi's California cruiser has joined the Italian marque's Australian line-up, but with few bikes in the shipment, they're not going to hang around on showroom floors for long.

Just eight examples of the Moto Guzzi California 90 have made it to our shores, and Australian importer John Sample Automotive has said that with the all-new California 1400 expected in mid-2013, the 90 -- a final edition of the 1100cc California that celebrates Moto Guzzi's 90th anniversary -- could well be the last version of the 1100cc Cali we'll ever see.
The California 90 sports a distinctive livery and a logo that harks back to Guzzi models of the 1930s; it also comes with an individually numbered plate on the steering yoke, colour-coded panniers and a tan leather seat. The bike is priced at $24,990 plus on-roads -- the same price, John Sample Automotive points out, as the 2011 California Vintage.
