Actor George Clooney has survived a nasty scooter crash on the Italian island of Sardinia, where he is on location shooting a television program.
An Italian police spokesman said that a Mercedes “did not respect the right of way and hit him” while Clooney was riding on a state road at 8:15am.
Clooney was apparently thrown six metres through the air and his helmet cracked on impact as it shattered the car’s windcsreen. He was taken to hospital but has now been discharged.
The star told CNN that he was traveling at 65mph before the head-on impact and that “it’s good to be alive”.
In 2008, Clooney was also involved in a motorcycle crash which broke his ribs and the foot of his then girlfriend.
