One-off Rossi bike for charity

The organisers of this year's Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne bike shows have banded together to produce a one-off Valentino Rossi replica R1 that will be auctioned off to support the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

They promise: It features incredible airbrushing with a dual-sided design; the right-hand fairing is highlighted by the distinct Rossi yellow, with a brilliant blue on the left-hand fairing. As well as a number of detailed characters and symbols, it also features a subtle embossed pattern of '46' icons, Valentino's famous race number.

The Rossi R1 will feature as part of the Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney events, and will be personally signed by the man himself at the Phillip Island MotoGP.

The unique Rossi R1, with artwork by Mark Brown of Brown's Grafix, will be featured on the Yamaha display at each premier exhibition, with the first showing to take place at this week's Brisbane show.

Enthusiasts attending the Australian Motorcycle Expo Brisbane (September 21-23), the Australian Motorcycle Expo Melbourne (October 5-7) and the Sydney Motorcycle Show (November 2-4) will be provided with flyers to remind them to log on and put in their bids for this amazing creation.

Mark Petersen of Exhibition and Trade Fairs said that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and said he expected bids to come from both local and overseas enthusiasts.

"The custom Yamaha Rossi R1 is an incredible motorcycle, with the unique livery reflecting Valentino's colourful personality and his many superstitions," said Petersen.

"Very rarely does this kind of opportunity come up, and the eventual winning bidder will ride away aboard a rare and never-to-be-repeated machine, complete with the mark of the man himself."

"Don't miss your chance to view this machine in person at either Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney."

"All profits from the auction will be donated to a fantastic charity in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, so we are urging everyone to check it out at the events and get their bid in online."

The auction will be run over 10 days, from November 2, on Ebay.
