BMW sales are up a substantial 46% in the first six months of 2007 (over a record 2006 result), says the local arm of the company.
It sold a record 1610 machines in 2006 and is on target to eclipse this full year figure by October 2007.
Year-to-date sales are within a whisker of 1000 units.
A host of new releases in recent years have allowed the brand to target new sectors of the motorcycle market, particularly younger, and more sport oriented riders.
"BMW Motorrad has the right spread of models for a market that clearly understands and appreciates a premium product," said Cameron Cuthill, General Manager of BMW Motorrad.
"Despite the ferocity of the mainstream discount-driven market, our sales success in the past 18 months underlines the fact that the Australian market is also experiencing a strong surge for unique top-end products.
"Individuals seeking something more than a homogenous solution to their motorcycling needs have been easily drawn to the up-to-date, innovative and technically-advanced BMW Motorrad range," he added.
