Budget-friendly CFMOTO 800MT range coming soon

The KTM-powered adventure tourer offers customers an affordable middleweight option

The relationship between CFMOTO and KTM is beginning to pay off, with the all-new CFMOTO 800MT adventure tourer set to arrive in Australia with a very attractive price tag.

Powered by KTM’s popular 799cc parallel-twin engine, the new CFMOTO 800MT will start with a price tag of $12,990 ride away for the Sport variant, and top out at $13,990 ride away for the better-equipped Touring version.

The new CFMOTO 800MT range checks in at under $14,000 ride away

KTM 790 Adventure vs Yamaha Tenere 700 Review

Considering KTM’s current middleweight adventure tourer – the KTM 890 Adventure – checks in at $22,500 ride away, and Yamaha’s successful Tenere 700 is priced at $17,990 ride away, the new 800MT will be a tantalising prospect for budget-conscious adventure riders.

The KTM-built powerplant will punch out 95hp and 88Nm in its CFMOTO trim – very similar figures to the original KTM 790 Adventure. The bike also features Bosch electronic fuel injection, ride-by-wire throttle and three ride modes – Rain, Off-Road and Road.

The CFMOTO 800 comes in two variants

Despite the KTM engine, CFMOTO has opted for KYB suspension instead of WP gear. The fully adjustable suspension features 160mm travel at the front and 150mm travel at the rear. Interestingly, the Touring version doesn’t appear to offer increased suspension travel.

A combination of 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels will keep the bike rolling, but the Touring variant adds spoked wheels instead of the Sport’s cast alloys.

The CFMOTO 800MT is loaded with equipment

Elsewhere, the new 800MT features J.Juan braking components, a tubular steel frame, seven-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth and navigation functionality, cruise control, an adjustable screen, fog lights, crash bars, USB and 12V sockets and LED lights.

The up-spec Touring version offers even more equipment such as tyre pressure monitoring, heated seats and grips, an up-and-down quick shifter, handguards, alloy bash plate, steering damper and keyless ignition.

Arriving in a Starlight Black livery for the Sport variant, and Ocean Blue for the Touring variant, the 800MT range comes with a three year, unlimited kilometre warranty. An exact release date is still to be determined, but would-be customers can expect to see bikes on showroom floors by late 2021.
