The upcoming Broadford round of the 2010 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) at the State Motorcycle Complex in Broadford (Vic) on July 1-4 has been cancelled, with the classes missing out -- Superstock C&D 1000, Superstock 600 and 125/250GP mono -- now set to receive double-header status at the next round in Queensland.
But we believe there is bigger issue at play here: why did it take so long for an official statement to be released about the cancellation, when it has already been common knowlege for a couple of days?
And it took until a few minutes ago for the cancellation statement to appear on the championhip's official website, which is a sad indictment on the quality and timeliness of information emanating from Australia's premier road racing title. Can you imagine a V8 Supercar round being cancelled and nothing appearing on its website for 24-48 hours? It just wouldn't happen, and it makes the motorcycle title appear second-rate and unprofessional.
The next round at Queensland Race way will be held from August 20-22.
