Last seen on Australian shores in 1993, the iconic Christchurch-built Britten V1000 blue and pink V-twin will be making a special appearance at the 2011 Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza (HBBB) next Easter.
One of only 10 V1000s built prior to the death of creator John Britten in 1995, this particular machine is believed to be the only remaining example still running, making its visit to the HBBB all the more unique.
The Britten will be ridden by none other than Kiwi legend Hugh Anderson, the winner of four GP world titles.
While the Britten V1000 will be a must-see, there will be plenty of classic machines hitting the State Motorcycle Complex in Broadford (Vic), highlighted by two Australian-made classics.
The Daytona-winning Irving Vincent 1300 and the machine Malcolm Campbell rode in the Australian Superbike Championship, the 1000cc Hunwick-Hallam will be present, adding to the blockbuster line-up of classic bikes.
Entries are now open for the 2011 event. For more information contact the Bonanza organiser Peter Drakeford at Motorcycling Australia, tel (03 9684 0500 or email pd@ma.org.au.
