Brit Henry Crew has kicked off the Australian leg of a world record attempt that would see him become the youngest person to circumnavigate the world by motorcycle – and it’s all in the name of men’s health.
Henry, 23, is undertaking the epic ride to challenge himself, while speaking out about his own experiences with depression and anxiety and the friends he has lost to suicide. Henry is aiming to raise more than £35,000 ($A62,000) for men’s health charity, the Movember Foundation, during the 13-month challenge, which will see him cover 56,000km, 35 countries and six continents.
Henry says: “I planned this journey for eight months and can’t think of a better charity partner than the Movember Foundation. Not only have they created a great community which has existing connections with motorcycles, but they also fight for causes which are close to my heart – specifically mental health.

“I have had my own struggles with mental health, particularly during my time at university and have also experienced a scary amount of mental health issues within my friendship group.”
The ride, kicked off in London in April 2018, and for the past four months Henry has ridden his Ducati Desert Sled an average of 6-8 hours each day, travelling through 19 countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan, Myanmar and Iran. To break the existing Guinness World Record, Henry needs to return to the UK by May 10, 2019.
Touching down in Perth in mid-August, Henry’s trip Down Under will stretch for almost 6000km from Perth to Brisbane along Australia’s vast coastline. While in Australia, he will ride accompanied by New Zealander Mike Gilbert.
