Brit bike sales reflect world growth

Britain's bike sales figures for 2005 reflect a worldwide trend for growth, with 5% growth and 92,711 units sold.

Sports bikes are very much the flavour of the year, representing over 35,000 sales and 1000cc-plus machines performing particularly well with a better than 17% rise.

Scooters did less well, showing relatively stagnant sales, although they are still significant and represent around 30% of all machines sold.

The top-selling bike was the Honda CB125R (pictured).
