Brisbane to host SX finale
The only round of the 2014 Australian Supercross Championship that will be held indoors, with Matt Moss favourite to wrap up consecutive titlesOver 4000 tonnes of dirt is currently being used to build a circuit inside the Brisbane Entertainment Centre ahead of the final round of the 2014 Australian Supercross Championship on Saturday, November 8. The series finale returns to the iconic venue following a seven-year hiatus.
In the SX1 class, defending champion Matt Moss (Motul Suzuki) holds a 22pts lead over his teammate Lawson Bopping and NP Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Adam Monea.
“I am really looking forward to this weekend’s final round in Brisbane,” Moss said. “We are taking the series back indoors which is where I first started.
“The atmosphere will be fantastic and I really want that final round win to take a clean sweep of the series.”
In the SX2 class it has come down to a battle of the internationals with Penrite Honda rider Gavin Faith holding an 18pt lead over fellow American Kyle Peters (Wilsons Jet Pilot Honda).
Faith, who won the series in 2012, is looking for redemption after a crash at the final round of the series in 2013 cost him the title.
“I made a mistake last year which cost me the title so I am out to make good in Brisbane this weekend,” Faith said. “I have done quite a bit of racing indoors over the years so I am looking forward to it. The track will be tight which will make for some really close racing so getting a good start will be really important.”
Brisbane’s own Brendan Harrison (KTM) is a further 8pts behind in third. The KTM rider is enjoying his first full season in three years after suffering potentially career-ending injuries.
