In front of a capacity crowd at the Jimboomba X Stadium in Queensland, Honda rider Justin Brayton has won the opening round of the Australian Supercross Championship (ASX) ahead of Yamaha pair Dean Ferris and defending champion Dan Reardon.
The US import won by 3.612 seconds over Ferris in the premier SX1 class, and was also the only rider to set a best lap under the 50-second mark around the 585-metre layout.
Reardon, returning to action after a serious knee injury sidelined him for three months, just held off Suzuki's Todd Waters to take the last podium spot, with Kawasaki riders Will Hahn and Kade Mosig the next home.
In the SX2 class, Gavin Faith (Honda) made it a double for America by winning ahead of Hayden Mellross (Yamaha) and Wade Hunter (Yamaha).
There's now a three-week break before the next round, which will be held in Toowoomba on October 15.
