The Boxer Design SuperBob is not a motorcycle for the faint of heart. This exotic creation is powered by a turbocharged V-twin engine contained within a very expensive and very lightweight frame, ensuring extreme acceleration.
When thoughts turn to bespoke naked bikes festooned with high end components and covered with carbon fibre, the place of origin is most often Italy, but the SuperBob is in fact a French design. Bonus points for commenters who can list more than three French motorcycle marques...
Powered by a thumping 997cc 88 degree V-twin engine that cranks out 158hp (116kW) and 125Nm thanks to a low pressure turbocharger huffing at around 6 psi, the Superbob tips the scales at a bantam-weight 175kg dry.
Boxer Design managed to keep the SuperBob's weight relatively low (for a big V-twin) by developing a carbon frame, and there's plenty of other eye candy besides. Take the duolever front forks for example. Though duolever set ups don't always provide as much feedback as standard telescopic forks, they look trick and together with Brembo brakes, Marchesini wheels and Ohlins suspension, the SuperBob is could be a force to be reckoned.
Flat bars, a single sided-swingarm, leather tank strap and lovingly bent exhaust plumbing give the bike a tough stance, while LED lights and a digital instrument cluster add a technical tough to French streetfighter.
Like the supercharged Horex V6 motorcycle motorcycle, which had a gestation period of about two years, Boxer Design's turbocharged SuperBob is a concept only at this stage, but plans are afoot to build the audacious naked bike.
With a design that could turn heads quicker than you can say 'zut alors' and a price tag expected to make purveyors blanche, the SuperBob could put French motorcycle design on the global map.
