Boosted prize pool announced for ASBK

Promoter IEG has unveiled a tempting prize pool and an array of contingency benefits for the 2013 QBE Australian Superbike Championship and its support classes

Riders set to lock horns in the 2013 QBE Australian Superbike Championship and its various support classes are set to benefit from a boosted pool of prize money and a variety of contingency programmes, series promoter IEG has announced.

Riders participating in the national titles will be battling it out for an attractive prize pool of some $85,000, with cash prizes available for riders crossing the line down to 12th place. A loyalty programme payment of $300 will be awarded to anyone contesting all six rounds of the Australian Superbike or Supersport Championships, further extending the initial value of the reduced entry fees on offer, while naming-rights sponsor QBE is stumping up a pool of over $10,000 to reward riders who promote the QBE brand in the Australian Supersport Championship.

Meanwhile tyre brand Pirelli is also offering a raft of incentives and contingencies, including a hefty rebate on entry fees for riders contesting the national titles on Pirelli-shod bikes in the Superbike, Supersport and Prostock categories. Pirelli, which is distributed in Australia by Link International, has also pitched in $5000-worth of 'Link dollars' for the 250 Production class to help riders in this important ‘feeder’ class, while a Pirelli Privateer Programme will help riders across various categories cover their tyre costs.

Yarrive Konsky, Director of IEG, said the incentives would only help to grow the sport. “After a successful 2012 campaign, IEG promises to deliver more to loyal participants,” said Konsky.

“We have worked closely with sponsors to develop strategies to further aid riders and their personal growth in the sport of road racing,” he added.
