Here’s the newest trike to hit the local market – the Boom Mustang.
The machine is powered by a four-cylinder, five-sped engine from Ford, equipped with Trijekt fuel injection. The company claims 168Nm of torque at 4300rpm, and more than 150Nm of that is available from 1500rpm. Peak power is 110hp (81kW) and the claimed maximum speed is 175km/h.
A 45-litre fuel tank ensures the Mustang keeps ticking over for hours on end, with consumption rated at 6lt/100km.
There’s a tubular frame, polished stainless steel exhaust system, Koni adjustable suspension, 15-inch alloy wheels, aluminium trailing arms and continuously adjustable shock absorbers.
Conveniences include a 200-litre rear trunk, passenger arm rests, 12-volt power outlet for navigation system, two top cases, and the chassis cover can be easily lifted with its gas struts.
The dry weight is 590kg, and there’s a 310kg load capacity.
There are two versions of the Mustang: the ST1 and ST1 Thunderbird, both available in black, white, yellow, red or blue.
The ST1 includes all of the above features and retails for $43,490, while the ST1 Thunderbird has an up-spec exhaust, bigger fork and handlebars, and 17-inch front wheels. Price is from $48,490.
The Mustang is imported into Australia by the Somersby (NSW) based Oz Trikes. For more information, call (02) 4372 1100 or email info@oztrikes.com.au.
