James Bond gets about, and over the last 50 years he’s used plenty of transport options to ply his trade, including, cars, boats, motorcycles and jets.
An exhibition currently on in the UK called Bond in Motion showcases 50 of the best-loved and most iconic Bond vehicles – some never publicly displayed before -- in celebration of the 50th year of the James Bond films.
That includes his latest film, Skyfall – which will premiere in Australia on November 22 – where two Honda CRF250Rs were used in the opening sequence to the film, which was shot in Turkey.
One is a Turkish police bike that is seized by a crook, and the other is a merchant’s bike that James Bond, Daniel Craig, uses in a pursuit. Both bikes feature extensive modifications.
Other bikes on display are a 1995 model Cagiva 600 W16 which appeared in GoldenEye, a 1971 Honda ATC moon buggy which was in Diamonds are Forever, and a 2008 Montesa trials bike which starred in Quantum of Solace.
There’s also a 2002 Bombardier Ski-Doo which found a spot in Die Another Day.
And the cars include all of Bond’s old favourites -- the Aston Martin DB5 from GoldenEye, the 1937 Phantom lll Rolls-Royce from Goldfinger, and the Lotus Esprit S1 affectionately nicknamed ‘Wet Nellie’ from The Spy Who Loved Me.
Bond in Motion continues to January 6, 2013 at Beaulieu museum in Hampshire. For more information visit www.beaulieu.co.uk.
