BMW test rides and track days
It's called the ‘RR Experience' and is a two-part event: test rides on the S 1000 RR as well as ride day sessions for customers on BMWs as well as other brandsBMW Motorrad has announced a couple of race track-based initiatives, and as follows:
RR Experience test rides
Along with the S 1000 RR, riders will also have the opportunity to test the K 1300 S, K 1300 R and the new water-cooled R 1200 GS in a close circuit environment. The cost is $49 for one test ride session, which includes an event t-shirt and light refreshments.
RR Experience track days (not available at Sandown Raceway, Vic event)
Riders of BMWs and other brands can enjoy their bikes in a controlled ride day environment. If you have never done a track day before then this is your chance. Lead riders will be on track for the first two laps and stay on track to observe and provide tips where possible. All bikes must be road registered; no track or race bikes permitted. The cost is $149 including a garage space, event t-shirt and light refreshments.
As well as enjoying the S 1000 RR, riders will be able to participate in information sessions with current Australian Superbike Championship leader Glenn Allerton, who will pass on his knowledge and experience in the vital areas of suspension, tyre pressures, lines and gears, body position and counter steering.
The RR schedule is as follows:
- Qld – Monday, June 17, Queensland Raceway
- Vic – Friday, August 9, Sandown Raceway (test rides only)
- NT -- Monday September 16, Hidden Valley Raceway
- NSW – Tuesday, September 24, Sydney Motorsport Park
