BMW Sportenduro to race

BMW's Sportenduro 450 is getting its first race outing on the weekend of April 28-29, when it competes in the E2 class of a round of the world enduro championships

Joel Smets and Sascha Eckert will be the riders and their mission is to give the machine a decent 'real world' test run.

It has a number of interesting features, including: Off-set rear suspension to allow a straight run for the intake; Countershaft sprocket integrated with the swingarm pivot (on the left side); And, for the time being, a chrome-moly frame.

The machine is one of a number of new off-road lines being developed around the world - Buell recently announced that it too is working on a 450 off-road competition machine.
