BMW has filled out its new G-series range of 650 singles by adding the Xcountry and Xmoto (pictured in red) to the Xchallenge (in black) dirt bike.
The Xcountry is aimed at the dual-purpose market, with a bias towards road use, while the Xmoto is a factory motard-style machine.
The former runs long travel suspension with a 19-inch front hoop and 17-inch rear (with Metzeler Tourance rubber), while the latter uses 17-inch rims with dedicated and wider road rubber on both ends plus shorter suspension.
Both claim a dry weight of under 148 kilos, matched to a powerplant delivering 53 horses at 7000rpm and 60Nm of torque and 5250rpm.
Brakes are single discs both ends, with the Xmoto getting a four-piston front calliper versus the Xcountry’s two-piston job.
Prices are $15,250 for the Xmoto and $12,300 for the Xcountry, plus ORC. Both can be ordered with ABS and a host of other accessories.
We’re already playing with the bikes and can report they’re a lot of fun – look for a full report in the near future.
