As a part of the celebrations surrounding the 30th anniversary of the birth of BMW’s GS range of dual-purpose bikes, the German marque has launched an online photo album, where GS owners can upload their favourite photos of their touring exploits.
When BMW’s R80G/S first hit the market back in 1980, little did anyone know just how popular the model and the range it would inspire would go on to be. Something of a new concept for the day, ‘GS’ initially stood for Gelände/Sport (terrain/sport) and later Gelände/Strasse (terrain/street), and the range has continually evolved right up to the flagship R 1200 GS Adventure of today.
The online GS photo album already features hundreds of entries from GS riders dotted all over the world, with representation of just about every GS model ever released being ridden in any number of locations. Click on the following link to register and view the album.
In addition to numerous 30th anniversary BMW GS events and rallies being held around the globe, BMW has also marked the occasion by releasing four 30th anniversary editions of the current R 1200 GS, R 1200 GS Adventure, F 800 GS and F 650 GS, with each of the models featuring a colour scheme inspired by that first GS model.
