BMW K 1600 GTL Exclusive

More features and enhanced comfort in BMW's new flagship touring model, the K 1600 GTL Exclusive, which is heading to Australia in the second quarter of 2014
BMW Motorrad has expanded its touring range with the addition of the K 1600 GTL Exclusive, which ups the touring luxury with extra features and a higher level of comfort.
Mechanically unchanged from the existing K 1600 GTL, the Exclusive features extra chrome, new instrumentation and a larger seating area. Pillions haven’t been forgotten, either – they now score a heated backrest, as well as armrests.
The Exclusive also comes with keyless starting and central locking, plus a new Hill Start Control that allows riders to pull away uphill with ease, even when fully loaded and two-up. The system, a first for BMW, means you can remain stationary on a slope with the engine running without needing to apply the brakes.
A new ‘integral film’ antenna is incorporated in the topbox, negating the need for a traditional antenna. The film antenna is placed between the inner lining of the topbox lid and its outer shell.
New LED daytime running lights are now standard and the Exclusive receives high-grade, four-coat paint.
Of course the Exclusive retains the many niceties of standard model including selectable ride modes, integral ABS, traction control, ESA II electronic suspension adjustment, adaptive xenon headlights, and an audio system with Bluetooth, MP3 and USB input, among others.
The chassis and 118kW, 1649cc, six-cylinder engine remain unchanged.
Pricing for the BMW K 1600 GTL Exclusive is yet to be confirmed but BMW Australia has said the model will be available in the second quarter of 2014.
The current 2013 K 1600 GTL is priced at $36,990 plus on-road costs.
