BMW Group Australia appoints new MD

The current manager director for BMW Middle East will take up the position in February next year

BMW Group Australia, which includes the motorcycle arm of the company, has announced the appointment of Phil Horton to the position of Managing Director, effective 1 February 2011.

Horton is currently Managing Director of BMW Middle East, with responsibility for 14 countries in the region. He was previously Sales and Marketing Director for BMW South Africa.

Horton replaces Stavros Yallouridis, who announced his shock resignation just last month.

“Phil Horton has a proven track record in highly competitive markets around the world and he is perfectly suited to the task of driving the business in Australia,” said Guenther Seemann, the Regional Director for Asia, Pacific and South Africa.

Horton began his career in the automotive industry in 1977, working for Ford of Britain Ltd. He joined the BMW Group in 1995 as Marketing Director of BMW Great Britain.
