BMW Motorrad is about to launch its fifth F series machine in Australia – the F 800 R.
The machine will go on sale in September, sitting alongside its naked siblings, the K 1300 R and R 1200 R. The F 800 R will cost around $14,000 (price before dealer and statutory charges).
“We are ecstatic to be able to bring the F 800 R to market this year, which will certainly assist in continuing our strong sales position”, says Cameron Cuthill. General Manager BMW Motorrad. “Gauging by the early interest in the F 800 R, this urban and sporting style of riding is sure to appeal not only to existing BMW customers but also to those that may not have considered a BMW before.”
The F 800 series was launched in 2006 with the F 800 S and F 800 ST, and then in 2007 the series was extended with the F 650 GS and more recently with the highly successful F 800 GS.
All the bikes are powered by the fuel injected 798cc parallel twin, which produces 86hp at 8000rpm and 86Nm at 6000rpm. Wet weight is 204kg.
The new F 800 R is available initially in three liveries: Alpine White non-metallic/Black silk gloss, Fire Orange non-metallic and White Aluminium metallic. The frame, swingarm, alloy wheels and engine are all finished in black.
