BMW’s all-new C 400 X scooter will go on sale locally by the middle of 2018, followed by a GT version with more comfort treats later in the year. Pricing is yet to be announced.
The C 400 Xs are powered by a 350cc single-cylinder engine, which gets its 34hp and 35Nm of torque through to the ground via a CVT transmission. Standard features include ABS, 12-volt power socket, stability control and a storage area comprising two integrated compartments and a flexcase under the single-section seat.
The GT version, officially called the C 400 X ion, adds daytime running lights, heated grips and seat, keyless ignition and a connectivity package dominated by the 6.5-inch TFT screen.
The scooters roll on large-diameter 15-inch wheels, which BMW says gives its handling a conventional motorcycle feel, while suspension is handled by a conventional telescopic fork and matched to a pair of spring struts at the rear.
The standard seat height is 775mm, though a 15mm lower option is also available, as is an optional higher screen.
