Finke Desert Race legends Ben "Grabbo" Grabham and Brad "Wonka" Williscroft have signed on to ride in this weekend's Sunny Corner Trail Bike Ride in NSW.
Running between the 19th and 20th of September, the event is non competitive -- but don't think these guys won't be racing for the win. Grabbo and Wonka finished first and second respectively in the gruelling Finke Desert Race and are big drawcards for the event.
It takes place in the Sunny Corner State Forest half way between Bathurst and Lithgow in NSW and involves two loops covering 75km, then 50km.
Entry is open to anyone with a road licence and road registered bike plus all entrants will go into a draw to win a new KTM 450 EXC. Runners up will take home a KTM 50 SX mini, both provided by KTM Australia.
The event has also secured Insure My Ride as a sponsor, which is giving away comprehensive insurance packages as prizes.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better than competing against Wonka and Grabbo, the $150 entry fee gets you breakfast and lunch, not to mention going into the prize draws.
While the race is on Sunday September 20, riders can rock up on Saturday and ride through the forest or check out the trade displays after setting up camp. There's also evening entertainment that will include a live band in the evening, a tip top bonfire fully catered facilities.
Of course those with prior appointments with the in-laws can also arrive on Sunday morning for an early race departure.
KTM is also hoping to raise $25,000 for Wonka and Grabbo to enter the famous Baja 1000 race in the USA.
Grabbo and Wonka have formed 'Team Australia' to enter Baja and hope to raise the $25k from donations or sponsors and will be hoping to generate interest at the Sunny Corner Trail bike ride.
Registry for the event can be found at the official 2009 KTM Sunny Corner Trail Bike Ride website.
