Italy’s current world superbike champion Max Biaggi has re-signed with the manufacturer which guided him to this year’s championship – Aprilia.
The announcement took a long time coming, but there was never really any doubt that Biaggi would continue his partnership with Aprilia, which has guided him to five world titles – four in 250 GP and now the WSBK success, which saw him win 10 of the 26 races.
“I'm obviously delighted to continue this successful WSBK adventure with Aprilia," said Biaggi. "After a tiring but exciting season, after many years of racing and many victories, it was natural and right to just stop and think, reflect on such an important future commitment.
“And in my assessment of the situation, as it was at the beginning of this adventure with Aprilia, what was decisive was to feel close to me a team and a company that are so talented and so focused towards their goals.
“Now we must prepare well for next season, and we know that we cannot rest on our laurels.”
Biaggi’s team-mate will again be Briton Leon Camier.
The championship will commence at Phillip Island from February 25-27.
