Benelli has revealed a new pair of middleweight machines, with the new Benelli Leoncino 800 and Leoncino 800 Trail expected to arrive in early 2022.
Following the reveal of the Benelli TRK800 at EICMA, and the release of the Benelli 752S in 2020, the Chinese-owned Italian brand is continuing its push into non-LAMS markets.
Both of the Leoncino 800 machines are powered by a 754cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder, Euro5-approved engine that puts out 76.2hp at 8500rpm and 67Nm at 6500rpm.
Suspension is handled by an adjustable Marzocchi fork and a central adjustable monoshock. There is also Brembo braking components, a 15L fuel tank, a wet anti-slip clutch and a six-speed gearbox.
The Leoncino 800 Trail, which is designed more as a scrambler-style bike, has a revised chassis, a taller seat height, longer suspension travel (148mm and 140mm), 19-inch front wheel and off-road friendly tyres. It also adds plenty of styling differences, including a raised double exhaust, and also features a TFT display.
The Leoncino 800 pair follow a similar concept to the original 500cc Leoncino, but the bigger engine will please fully-licenced riders looking for a bit more grunt.
Pricing is yet to be announced, but both models are expected to arrive in the first half of 2022.
