Benelli’s BN600 is now on sale in Australia, the four-cylinder machine marking a new path for the normally triple-reliant Italian marque.
There will be two versions of the BN600 – the full powered BN600R and the LAMS-approved BN600S.
In full power mode, the Benelli designed and built 600cc inline DOHC four-cylinder engine outputs 82hp (60kW) at 11,500rpm and 51Nm at 10,500rpm. The liquid-cooled engine has 38mm throttle bodies, and is hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox via a wet clutch. The bike's innards are held together by an upper steel trellis and lower aluminium plate frame.
Componentry on the BN600R includes a Marzocchi 50mm fork and Sachs rear shock absorber with 320mm twin floating front discs mated to radially mounted Brembo four-piston calipers.
Aluminium-alloy 17-inch wheels are fitted with Metzeler Sportec M5 rubber, and the BN600R has a 15-litre fuel tank.
The BN600R also features alloy tapered handlebars, fully braided steel brake lines, and twin under-seat exhaust pipes.
The BN600S uses a restricted 54hp (44kW) engine, with Benelli-branded suspension and brakes in place of the Marzocchi/Sachs combo and Brembo stoppers used on the BN600R. Yamaha’s XJ6NL is a four-cylinder competitor to the BN600S.
Both versions of the BN600 will be offered in white, black or red liveries, with a full range of genuine Benelli and aftermarket accessories including OZ Racing wheels, Arrow race pipes. There’s also a bulging catalogue of performance, comfort and carbon fibre accessories.
