A father and son team are getting ready to embark on a 45-day motorcycle ride around Western Australia to raise funds for the annual Channel 7 Telethon.
Actor and musician, Joel Jackson, and his school principal father, Weston, will pilot a pair of Benelli TRK 502Xs on the 10,000km trek, which they have dubbed ‘The Lap’.
Starting on September 10, 2021, the duo will set out to complete a ‘lap’ of WA, visiting towns such as Perth, Geraldton, Exmouth, Karratha, Broome, Kununurra, Kalgoorlie, Esperance, Albany, Margaret River and Bunbury, just to name a few.

‘The Lap’ will coincide with a number of fundraising events across the state, with events at places such as schools, local gyms and local businesses. All money raised will go towards the Telethon which in turn donates money to charities that support Australian children.
Weston Jackson is the principal at Millars Well Primary School in Karratha, and has been an educator for more than 40 years. He has received a number of awards for his services and contributions to education in Western Australia.
Joel Jackson is an AACTA and Logie winning actor and musician, who once played the iconic Peter Allen, and also started in a film opposite Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe.
The journey will be backed by Benelli, with the duo riding the TRK 502X adventure tourer, which was the Best LAMS Adventure Sport machine in the 2020 Bike of the Year Awards.
The Benelli TRK 502X is powered by a 499.6cc parallel twin engine that puts out 46NM at 5000rpm and 35kW at 8500rpm. It also features a 20L fuel tank and 19-inch and 17-inch wheels, and it is compatitble with a wide range of oringial accessories. It checks it with a rideaway price of $9890.
