Bell's testing regime

Iconic American motorcycle helmet manufacturer Bell has released a video about how it goes about testing the hardware that ends up on our noggins

Bell Helmets is turning 60 in 2014, which is a massive achievement for any company in any field of endeavour.

Recently, the company released a video about the lengths it goes to test motorcycle helmets, which must meet a variety of standards and ratings and withstand impacts at all kinds of velocities and angles. The company’s goal is to “create a helmet that has the ability to absorb and dissipate energy at every level of velocity”.

Technology has certainly come on a long way since 1964 and the company’s first fibreglass helmet. This video, taken at Bell’s testing facility, aka ‘The Dome’, proves it.
