
A capacity crowd of over 6000 people flocked to Taree Motorcycle Club for the second annual Troy Bayliss Classic on Saturday, January 18, which three-time world superbike champion Troy Bayliss claim victory in his home event.
The Australian battled with Superpole winner Sammy Halbert in the opening laps of the 21-lap race before the American flat track champion bowed out of contention after crashing.
Bayliss took the chequered flag ahead of 2008 AMA supermoto champion Troy Herfoss and 2013 Troy Bayliss Classic winner Michael Kirkness.
Earlier in the night, Halbert took victory in the Americana feature event. The action-packed elimination races saw both Bayliss and multiple world junior speedway champion Darcy Ward crash out of contention, and veteran racer Paul Caslick controversially eliminated for jumping the start.
Three-time world speedway champion Jason Crump took out the Legends award over the four rounds of racing, defeating riders like former national enduro champions like Dave Armstrong and Phil Lovett; Mr Motocross legends Stephen Gall and Anthony Gunter; and former grand prix motocross stars like Shayne King and Jeff Leisk.

KTM-backed speedway hero Jason Crump confirmed he would love to return to the Troy Bayliss Classic after winning the star-studded Legends category of the event before 6000 fans at Taree at the weekend.
