Bayliss to race at 2015 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix
Big names to race on the dirt track at Phillip IslandAustralian World Superbike legend, Troy Bayliss, will bring his own special brand of dirt track racing to the Phillip Island Circuit, with the Troy Bayliss Invitational GP set to light up the 2015 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix thanks to Troy Bayliss Events.
The Troy Bayliss Invitational GP will see some of the biggest names in Australian motorcycle racing vying for dirt-track supremacy across the weekend, with Bayliss himself a three-time World Superbike Champion, taking to the track as the undisputed star of the show.
Heats will comprise of seven riders who will compete in a round-robin style competition at the Lukey Heights track, with all General Admission ticket holders gaining free entry to watch the action.
The Invitational GP comes off the back of Bayliss' involvement in last December's 'Superprestigio', an event that 2014 MotoGP World Champion, Marc Marquez, hosts annually in Barcelona.
The Troy Bayliss Invitational GP will take place on a tailor-made flat-track circuit and Bayliss, who has won six times at Phillip Island in World Superbikes, is happy to be a key part of the entertainment.
"The Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix is one my favourite weekends of the year, so to be back on the Island racing on home soil, it's just a massive thrill and something we want the fans to really embrace across the weekend," Bayliss said.
"Some big names will be here and they will all want to win in front of the large crowds expected."
Riders already confirmed to compete include, Speedway Grand Prix Champion Jason Crump, former MotoGP star Chris Vermeulen, plus expect some of America's best.
Australian Grand Prix Corporation's Craig Fletcher, expects the event to be an exciting addition to the program at the 2015 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
"To have Troy and so many talented riders from all disciplines converge on the Island for the invitational will be a fantastic coup for the event," Fletcher said.
"Dirt track racing has been one of the most prominent breeding grounds for Australia's motorcycling elite with Casey Stoner, Mick Doohan and Wayne Gardner all plying their trade on the dirt in the early stages of their careers."
