Superbike hero Troy Bayliss today launched the 2012 Australian Motorcycle Expo and Australian Cycling Expo, to be held from February 17-19 at the Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“The connection for me between the motorcycle and the bicycle is that they’ve both got two wheels, and anything with two wheels I love,” said Bayliss. “I’m looking forward to seeing all the new models released. I might be heading to Milan to EICMA to see some of the new bikes but the Gold Coast is where it will be at for every rider to kick off 2012.”
To add to the flair of the event, organisers are planning a beachside ‘hot dog course’ cycle race in Broadbeach, with significant prizemoney expected to attract entries from some of Australia’s top riders – Bayliss included.
“There’s a lot more excitement in bicycle racing than what people might think, they’ll get to see this up close with the planned race through Broadbeach which will be fantastic,” added Bayliss.
Event Manager Mark Petersen said: “Adding the Australian Cycling Expo to the already established Australian Motorcycle Expo expands our reach into two disciplines which are distinctly different.
“There is a big crossover in interest and we’re sure visitors will love the chance to check out what is shaping up to be a sensational festival of everything two-wheels.”

The Bikesales Network will be on location at the Gold Coast expo, but we might give the cycling race a wide berth…
Following the Gold Coast, the second and final major motorcycle expo in 2012 will be held in Melbourne in November.
