Troy Batchelor has cemented himself as the front-runner for the 2013 Australian Solo Speedway Championship crown after sweeping the second round of the series at Undera Park Speedway (Vic) on January 9.
The Queenslander led proceedings from start to finish, taking an unbeatable 12pt heat score before claiming the A Final from Dakota North and Cameron Woodward. The fourth finalist, Davey Watt, had to settle for last place after engine trouble ruled him out of the final.
With the first two rounds of the series and a perfect score line under his belt, Batchelor holds an 8pt lead heading into the final round at Kurri Kurri (NSW) on January 12. With the advantage in hand, Batchelor just needs to secure a berth in the B final to take the crown and his maiden national title.
The on-track heat at Kurri Kurri will be turned up to boiling, with a talented field of riders including Dakota North (32pts), Cameron Woodward (32), Justin Sedgmen (28), Watt (27) and Rohan Tungate (26) hot on Batchelor’s tail.
