Barbagallo Raceway welcomes back bikes

Safety upgrade sees motorbike accreditation returned to WA circuit

Motorcycle racing is back on the agenda at Barbagallo Raceway after a two-year hiatus.
Two-wheeled action was suspended in November 2016 following the sixth death at the Wanneroo track in 16 years.

A report commissioned by the WA Government identified several high and extreme risk areas for motorcycle racing.

The track operator, the WA Sporting Car Club, has now added a new chicane to slow top speeds and fitted Airfence safety barriers at key points around the track.

Motorcycling WA chief executive Joe McCarthy was pleased to announce the return of bikes.

“This is great news for motorcyclists and motorcycle fans in Western Australia, who now have the opportunity to enjoy motorcycling at Barbagallo once again” McCarthy said.
