Award winners and legends recognised at ADB Awards
The off-road industry's gala showpieceThe third annual ADB Awards were held last Friday night in Sydney, with around 320 industry players, media and riders attending the awards ceremony, including Chad Reed and off-road great Jeremy McGrath.
It was a gathering of the elite, with 13 of this season's Australian, AMA and world champions in attendance, and two riders inducted into the ADB hall of fame: Jeff Leisk and Phil Lovett.
The seven category winners for the 2009 ADB Readers' Choice Awards were:
1. Jay Wilson - Junior Rider of the Year
2. Jemma Wilson - Women's Rider of the Year
3. Toby Price - Rookie Rider of the Year
4. Cam Sinclair - Freestyle MX Rider of the Year
5. Jarrod Bewley - Off-Road Rider of the Year
6. Jay Marmont - MX/SX Rider of the Year
7. Chad Reed - International Rider of the Year
At the gathering, Jan and Arthur Blizzard were also announced as recipients of the Geoff Eldridge Lifetime Achievement Award for their long-term contribution to off-road motorcycling.
"Aside from paying tribute to the current crop of young riders who've also proved to be popular with ADB's readers, the ADB Awards is also about looking back at where we've come from," said ADB editor Sam Maclachlan.
"As ADB's Andy Wigan intended when he started this, it's about acknowledging the contribution made by inspirational characters who've shaped the sport and the industry, and who've created opportunities for the rest of us."
